West Sussex-based English wine producer Nyetimber has released its 2007 Blanc de Blancs.

The sparkling wine is crafted from 100% estate-grown Chardonnay and is described as having "a rich nose of bergamots, Philadelphus and Granny Smith apples followed by racy citrus fruits and focused minerality on the palate".

Conditions during the 2007 harvest were "perfect for a slow, fine ripening," according to the producer, with a dry September and October. Picking occurred during the first half of October "thanks to the good balance between crop load and foliage canopies," a spokesman said.

As part of its ongoing commitment to championing the best of British, Nyetimber has linked up with The British Fashion Council as a sponsor of the London Collections: Men, a biannual showcase of Britain's top menswear designers.

The Blanc de Blancs was launched at the Hospital Club, following the Lou Dalton menswear presentation earlier today. Head winemaker Cherie Spriggs said: "We wanted to celebrate the start of a new year with the launch of our Nyetimber Blanc de Blancs 2007 here at London Collections: Men. Mirroring our commitment to quality, excellence and craftsmanship, we are proud to be associated with these designers and to help support the work of the British Fashion Council."

Nyetimber, which has been a sponsor since the first London Collections: Men in June 2012, will serve its new sparkler at various events during this year's showcase.

Nyetimber Blanc de Blancs 2007 has a 12% abv and a retail price of £35.99.

Last October Nyetimber was the first English producer to announce the decision to skip the 2012 harvest on the back of the summer's bad weather, due the sub-standard quality of grapes and lack of volume. The producer said it is committed to making sparkling wine that can rival the very best in the world, including Champagne and "maintaining quality is paramount".
