New Caballeros appointed to Gran Orden
Restaurateur brothers Sam and Eddie Hart, and winemaker Antonio Sanz are the latest people to be invested into the Gran Orden de Caballeros.
The new recruits were inducted into the Gran Orden at a ceremony in central London last night.
The Gran Orden de Caballeros was established in 1984 and recognises those in the trade who have "acted over and above the call of duty" in their promotion of Spanish wines. Counting the new recruits, there are currently 58 members from both Spain and the UK.
Sam and Eddie Hart were recognised for their passion for Spanish food and wine, which shines through in their restaurant ventures. Fino, Barrafina and Quo Vadis all champion Spanish wines and have gathered various accolades for their offer.
Antonio Sanz founded his Rueda winery in 1976 before the official DO was established and is responsible for many "firsts" in the region, including introducing Sauvignon Blanc to the area, practising barrel fermentation, and experimenting with both night and late harvesting.
