Austrian Wines is on a mission to boost by the glass sales with the launch of a national on-trade promotion.
Supported by a major consumer awareness campaign, the push started this week and will continue until the end of April.
On the generic bodies' website, and through Twitter and Facebook pages, consumers can access details of all the restaurants and on-trade outlets offering Austrian wines by the glass. Consumer incentives are also on offer including a free trip to Austria for two, discounts on sets of Riedel wine glassware and prizes of Austrian wines.
Georg Karabaczek, the Austrian trade commissioner, said "The response from the on-trade to our promotion has been extremely positive and the number of participating restaurants, pubs and wine bars on our Facebook pages is increasing every day.
"We have enthusiastic support from top West End London establishments like Home House members club and Texture restaurant which is selling FX Pichler's renowned Riesling Federspiel from Wachau by the glass, to pubs like the Bull & Last in Highgate Road NW5 selling Birgit Eichinger's Grűner Veltliner from Kamptal. Outside London, we have great interest too particularly in Scotland." |
