Glenfiddich, is to auction of one of its rarest-ever whiskies, the Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve.

The 55 year old single malt Scotch whisky honours Janet Sheed Roberts, the oldest living person in Scotland, who celebrated her 110th birthday in August 2011, and who is granddaughter of William Grant, founder of the Glenfiddich distillery.

Only 11 bottles of the Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve will be released to the public, one to celebrate each decade of her life.

All proceeds from the sale of the whisky will go to Walking With The Wounded, a charity dedicated to the re-training and re-education of our servicemen and women.

It will be bottle No.2 that is released to the public during the auction – each bottle is hand- numbered and bottle No.1 sold at Bonham’s in December last year for £46,850, breaking a world record for the most expensive single malt Scotch whisky sold at auction.

Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich’s malt master, says: “It is an honour to be one of four malt masters who have played a role in nurturing this remarkable whisky. Our third malt masterGordon Ross casked this spirit on New Year’s Eve 1955, it was then nosed up to ten times by his successor, Hamish Robertson.

"My predecessor David Stewart cared for it for another 35 years before I had the pleasure of bottling it.

"It is a truly special whisky and demonstrates our pioneering approach to whisky-making.”

The charity auction will take place on February 10, at The Honourable Artillery Company, and will be led by senior Christie’s auctioneer James Bruce-Gardyne
