Slurp has announced the appointments of James Woodhead and Alex Gonszor in a move to prioritise its fine wine category.

Woodhead, who will become global head of fine wine sales, joined Slurp recently from the Antique Wine Company, where he was a lead salesman, with clients in Europe and Asia.

Predominantly based in the UK, he will divide his time between London and Hong Kong, and will oversee Slurp's high net worth private buyers in both regional centres.

In addition, Alex Gonszor has been named global head of fine wine trading. Based in London, he will oversee a team of traders whose primary objective is to maintain prices on Slurp's market-leading Wine Trader platform for electronic fine wine trading.

Gonszor is a graduate of Slurp's internal training programme, having joined Slurp as an intern a year ago.

The online retailer says the creation of the new global positions reflects Slurp's realisation that wine trading is now a 24/7 global operation with no respect for national or continental boundaries, and intends to invest heavily over the next 12 months to offer a new range of sophisticated trading and analysis tools to assist its clients.

Slurp offers Wine Trader live prices on all four of its main websites – slurp.co.uk, slurp.asia, slurpvin.fr and slurpwein.de.
