Scottish drinks distributor Inverarity Morton has acquired Glasgow-based spirits supplier, LA Wholesale for an undisclosed sum.
LA Wholesale’s portfolio includes Tapatio Tequila, Sipsmiths London Dry Gin and the Santa Teresa Rum range.
The deal is to align Inverarity Morton with LA Wholesale’s affiliate training business, Liquid Arts Academy. Inverarity Morton clients will now be “priority customers” when it comes to training.
Inverarity Morton managing director Stephen Russell said: “We were attracted to LA Wholesale for a number of reasons. For a relatively new supplier they have built an incredibly successful business with an enviable portfolio of brands.
“The way they do business is very similar to Inverarity Morton. They don’t call it a day when the customer signs their delivery note; there is a real focus on developing relationships through a complementary service range. By running interdependent divisions under an umbrella group, that all provide valuable consultancy support, there is no need for clients to look elsewhere. There is definite compatibility between our two businesses and our customers will benefit hugely from what the LA Group brings to the table.”
In July 2011, Wm Morton and Inverarity Vaults merged to create one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned drinks distributor Inverarity Morton. The company has a combined client base of more than 2,000 customers and a £50 million turnover. The company also runs WSET-accredited courses.
LA Wholesale was established in 2009. It is a subsidiary of the LA Group, an agency launched in 2005 by Scott Gemmell, which encompasses LA Events, LA Media and the Liquid Arts Hospitality Academy.
