Ex-Waverley wine boss joins Australian Vintage

Ex-Waverley wine boss Henry Moran has joined Australian Vintage.

Moran, who was wine controller at WaverleyTBS prior to its collapse last month, will look after the Sainsbury's and Waitrose accounts for the company.

Before joining Waverley, Moran had wide experience in purchasing, sales and business plan development. He was a buyer looking after New World, rosé and fortified wines at Musgrave before Waverley.

Waverley entered administration on October 2, 2012, with the loss of 830 jobs.

Julian Dyer, Australian Vintage's general manager for the UK and Europe, said: "We're delighted that Henry will be joining our rapidly expanding team. He has great experience in the wine business which will strengthen the great skill set which already exists in the business."

Moran added: "I am looking forward to joining a dynamic team and working with such a strong brand as McGuigan. AVL is well respected throughout the wine industry and this is a great opportunity to contribute to the continued success of such a strong portfolio of brands."

Back in August, former AVL UK and Europe chief Paul Schaafsma switched to head up Accolade Wines' UK team, while in September Dyer was formally appointed to the role as general manager. Dyer himself joined AVL just seven months ago, after working at Sainsbury's as a senior buyer for six years.

The brand also launched Vinni, a moscato-based sparkling wine drink, served in a 50cl cider-style bottle, last month.
