William Grant & Sons has launched its Grant's 25 Year Old blend for the first time outside the travel retail market.

Aimed at the Christmas market, Grant's says its 25 Year Old (rrp £210) contains some of the world's most highly-prized and distinctive malt and grain whiskies, including the first ever laid down at Grant's Girvan distillery, as well as rare whiskies from distilleries no longer in existence.

Blended at the family distillery in Scotland by master blender Brian Kinsman, the ultra-premium whisky is a celebration of five generations of whisky-making history spanning over 100 years.

Peter Gordon, the fifth-generation descendent of the distillery's founder, said: "This exceptional 25 year old blended Scotch whisky is our way of celebrating each family member's contribution to the success of Grant's whisky and our unique family history.

He added: "Grant's 25 Year Old is distilled in Girvan, a site built by our current life president Charles Gordon. This outstanding blend contains 25 whiskies from every region of Scotland, with the most unique element being our Girvan Grain, the backbone of all our blends."

The bespoke individually hand-finished gift box has been specifically designed to showcase the rich amber colours of the whisky and is adorned with gold engraved metalwork.

The Grant's 25 Year Old is available exclusively in Selfridges stores throughout the UK until the end of the year. A further rollout will continue in high-end establishments throughout 2013.
