French winemaker Muriel Lismonde, owner of Tour de Belfort, has opened wine and cookery school Le Vin La Table in Hale, Cheshire, which aims to offer variety of wine tastings, cookery classes and workshops.
Due to open its doors today (December 17), the school is run in collaboration with chef Jason Palin and will accommodate up to 12 people per course on an individual basis or for private group bookings.
Lismonde and Palin have put together a range of courses designed to take participants on a global taste journey, with menu options that will change on a regular basis. Its initial offering will include one, two and three-hour workshops focusing on menus that include Tour de Belfort's own region, the Lot in south west France, as well as cookery demonstrations from Morocco, Vietnam, India and Italy.
Lismonde , a qualified WSET trainer, already has a track record in running wine-tasting events over the UK and aims to offer Le Vin La Table customers the opportunity to gain a WSET Foundation certificate in wine tasting.
The shop will also sell Tour de Belfort's collection of wines, a range of quality wine accessories and a selection of teas and coffees.
Lismonde says: "We are a young vineyard that has been selling to the UK market through our website and wine tasting events for the past three years. We have been looking for the right opportunity to bring our wines direct to our customer and we are delighted to have found the perfect place for our first Le Vin La Table.
"Working with Jason means we can offer a selection of fantastic cookery courses and foods that pair well with our wine. We are thrilled to now be in a position where we can offer wine and food lovers the chance to taste our wines and try out our cookery courses in a fun and innovative way. As far as we are aware this is the first time a French winemaker has opened this type of concept in the UK."
Tour de Belfort is only in its third year of production and has won 10 industry medals – including the prestigious Grand Prix d'Excellence des Oenologues de France and a recommendation at the International Wine Challenge. |
