Dr Loosen estate ?auction? wines go Internet only.

Dr Loosen estate, the highly regarded Mosel-Saar-Ruwer producer, is to offer its limited-production "auction" wines exclusively through an Internet auction site. It will make the move with its 1999 rziger Wrzgarten Sptlese and 1999 Erdener Prlat Long Gold Capsule Auslese auction wines. This auction will be online at www.BrentwoodWine.com beginning Wednesday, 20 September and ending on Friday, 29 September. "We felt it was time to move into the 21st century with our auction wines," said Ernst Loosen of Dr Loosen. "With the Internet, everyone has a chance to bid on the wines no matter where they are in the world." Botrytis-selected 1998 Dr Loosen Erdener Prlat Long Gold Capsule Auslese had sold for DM650 (about 210) per bottle - matching the auction record it set the year before. To participate in the auction, bidders need only visit the Brentwood Wine Company Web site and register. Once the auction begins, the site features an AutoBid option that automatically outbids competing bidders, up to a specified limit. Visit www.BrentwoodWine. com for complete auction details.
