Champagne sponsors secured for UK Sommelier awards

Champagnes Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck have been announced as the new sponsors of the UK Sommelier of the Year Competition. The Academy of Food and Wine (AFW) announced the three-year sponsorship deal at final of the 2008 compeittion, which took place on April 22 at the Royal Society of Medicine. Sophie Roberts-Brown, AFW director, said the choice of sponsor was a crucial one given the competition's prestigious 28-year history. She added: "We pride ourselves on developing long and rewarding relationships with our key supporters and with Champagnes Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck we feel we have the perfect partner."
