Carlsberg pulls Sun promotion after backlash from Liverpool fans

Carlsberg has been forced to drop a promotion it was due to run in The Sun this bank holiday weekend after a backlash from Liverpool football club fans.

The lager giant, which is the Liverpool shirt sponsor, has been contacted by hundreds of angry football fans who have never forgiven the newspaper for its coverage of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.

Carlsberg had been planning to give away a pint of free beer to Sun readers over the August bank holiday weekend. It has since admitted that the idea was "naive".

Thankyou Carlsberg for realising your error and making it right. The lies that were printed by the Sun and Kelvin McKenzie will never be forgotten on Merseyside.
