Cognac shipments fall 4%

Sales of cognac have fallen nearly 4% in the past 12 months, according to figures from the Bureau National Interprofessional du Cognac (BNIC).

Shipments of the spirit have fallen by 3.8% to 152.9 million bottles and outgoings have dropped by 4.2% to 168.4 million bottles. The biggest fall in shipments has been to Europe; a drop of 11.4%. In North America, there has been a drop of 3.3%.

In Asia, shipments have increased by 6.5% in the past year.
