James Simpson has been appointed sales director at wine producer Pol Roger.

Simpson has been with Pol Roger since 1993 and has been a director of the company since 1997. In 1992, he became the youngest person to pass the Master of Wine exams at the time, and went on to serve on the MW Events Committee, Education Committee and Council. Simpson was also the former President of the Wine Trade Sports Club, until injury retired him from the rugby pitch.

Commenting on his appointment, managing director Nick James said: "We are delighted to have offered this role to James, and it is one which he thoroughly deserves; he has built the sales force in the South of England up to great strength as well as personally handling a number of prestige accounts and will now spread his wings to the teams in North and to Scotland. We are pleased to announce that he has accepted the role and will be commencing with immediate effect."

News of Simpson's promotion comes with the news that Cassidy Dart, 27, the latest recruit to the Pol Roger London sales team, has passed his first year Master of Wine exams.
