Skyy vodka is to sponsor T.G.I. Friday's national in-house Bartender Championship and become the group's new house vodka.

Skyy will provide branding at the five regional heats of the T.G.I. Friday's Bartender Championship, which more than 100 bartenders are taking part in, as well as a range of cash and other prizes. It will also be involved in supporting the bartender training.

The winner will progress to the European final and if successful will take part in The T.G.I. Friday's World Championship in the USA.

Last year, Tony Adams of T.G.I. Friday's in Haymarket, London, topped the competition to take the title of the T.G.I. Friday's World's Best Bartender.

Darrell Wade, marketing director for T.G.I. Friday's, said: "Linking with Skyy vodka makes a perfect fit between the pinnacle-seeking values of both brands. Like T.G.I. Friday's, Skyy is dedicated to creating lasting experiences and enjoyment in entertaining environments."

Added Katie Warren, Skyy UK marketing manager: "The brand fit is perfect as both Skyy vodka and T.G.I. Friday's have all American credentials and are dedicated to producing first class cocktails. It seems fitting that T.G.I. Friday's outstanding team of bartenders will now be able to work with one of the smoothest, purest vodkas in the world."
