Wetherspoons to hold wine festival

Wetherspoon is to host a 19 day wine festival at which it will showcase a range of wines not previously served in its pubs.

The festival will run every Wednesday through to Sunday from September 17 to October 5.

Wetherspoon's festival organiser, Kay Lewis, said: "We have sourced a selection of outstanding wines from across the world for customers at our pubs to enjoy.

"The wine festival will give people the opportunity to sample a range of award-winning wines at affordable prices."

The list of wines on offer includes:

Sauvignon Sémillon 2006, Skuttlebutt - Western Australia

Chenin Blanc 2007, Fish Hoek - South Africa (winner of the silver medal at the International Wine Challenge)

The Naked Grape Riesling 2007, Ernst Loosen - Germany (International Winemaker of the Year 2001)

Rosado Tempranillo Shiraz 2007, Penascal - Spain (winner of the silver medal at Le Mondial du Rosé)

Carmenère 2007, Errazuriz - Chile (winner of the bronze medal at both the International Wine Challenge and the Decanter World Wine Awards)

Cabernet Shiraz 2006, GB51 - South Australia (winner of the gold medal at the Sommelier Awards).
