Origin switches sourcing of Camden Park to Argentina

Origin Wines is switching the supply of one of its premium brands from Austrailia to Argentina in a bid to make the brand more profitable.

The South African winery is moving sourcing of its Camden Park brand, which it acquired in January from the now defunct Orbital Wines, citing "supply and pricing issues" in Australia. Camden Park will be re-launched with a new label at the Wines of Argentina trade fair later this month in two new styles, Pinot Grigio and Bonarda Shiraz. Both will retail at £6.99.

CEO of Origin Wine, Bernard Fontannaz, said: "We are confident that we can establish a credible, premium brand from Argentina. Argentina is still a sleeping giant, and given the current supply and pricing issues in Australia, offers fantastic value and a great ratio between price and quality."

The move is part of a wider focus the wine producer is placing on Argentina. Origin says it will have an "increased range" of wines on show at Wines of Argentina, which will include new vintages of existing wines as well as new range extensions. It will also heavily promote its fair-trade Fairhills brand, which supports some of the largest Fairtrade initiatives in Argentina, at the show.

Wines of Argentina takes place on September 17. For more details please visit the TalkingDrinks events page.
