Wines of Chile is set to open an office in the United States this year.
The generic body has the go-ahead to launch the first-ever dedicated office after securing the funding. It is currently recruiting an individual to head the US operation. The office location is yet to be confirmed and will depend on where the successful candidate is based.
UK director of Wines of Chile Michael Cox said the office should be "up and running by the end of the year".
He added: "The US is Chile's number two market after the UK and already sells 9 ½ million cases so it has great potential."
Wines of Chile currently employs an agency to run its activity in the US but this is the first time a dedicated office will be established.
