Asda will be the first supermarket to stock Antica Raspberry Sambuca when the flavoured sambuca goes on-shelf from September 29.

The Antica range was created by Surrey-based Hi-Spirits and it soon established itself as the number one sambuca product in the on-trade. Hi-Spirits was then responsible for the industry's first flavoured sambucas, with the raspberry variant being launched three years ago.

Asda spirit spirits buyer Drew Tiffin said: "Raspberry Sambuca is popular in the on-trade and it makes sense for it to be available to customers who want to enjoy the drink at home. We're delighted to be the first supermarket to put Raspberry Sambuca on our shelves in response to customer demand."

Jeremy Hill, Hi-Spirits' managing director, said: "Antica Raspberry Sambuca is stocked by most of the on-trade multiple operators but customer research showed many people wanted it to be available for the take-home market - and Asda has now seized the potential."

Antica Raspberry Sambuca is produced at the Antiche Distillery in Ponte di Barbarano, Northern Italy, and is naturally flavoured with wild raspberries grown in the forests around the distillery.

The 38% alcohol by volume Antica Raspberry Sambuca will be available in 284 ASDA stores and will retail at £15.98 for a 700ml bottle.
