Acclaimed Pouilly Fumé producer, Didier Dagueneau, has died aged 52. Dagueneau was tragically involved in a microlite accident last Wednesday in the Dordogne region of western France.

Dagueneau, often dubbed the 'wild man of the Loire' was widely credited as being one of the greatest sauvignon blanc wine producers in the world.

The Loire Valley Wine Bureau quotes Joe Dressner, of Louis Dressner Selections, as saying, "The wine world has lost a great vigneron and the world has lost one of the most original, charming and mischievous characters to ever grace a vineyard row."
