Tell your MP the real facts about alcohol

Harpers is inviting you to join the Alcohol Debate by writing an open letter to your MP.

Next Tuesday is the date for final submissions to be sent to the cross-government initiative to be considered as part of its Safe, Sensible, Social: the next steps in the alcohol strategy review.

A consultation document leaked to Harpers shows the Government is already a long way down the road towards implementing a mandatory code on the sector.

But Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has called on the sector to "petition us" and promises to "listen to what you say before we consider what is done".

Harpers has teamed up with the Wine and Spirit Trade Association and the Drinkers Alliance to get as many people as possible in the trade to get their local MP on side and let them know the real facts in the Alcohol Debate.

We have put together some key eye-catching facts in an open letter to your local MP that clearly spell out the truth when it comes to alcohol and drinking behaviour in the UK.

All you have to do is send a copy of this letter to your local MP. You can download and print off a copy of the letter below in either PDF or Word format, to send in the post or to cut and paste and send as an email.

Harpers will also widen the campaign, by appealing to the national media to cover the drinks industry's fight against politicians. Watch this space for another exclusive story tomorrow.
