Chilean winery Viña Undurraga has teamed up with travel retail specialist The World of Patria to target the travel retail and duty free markets in Europe and the Middle East.

In the past two years, Viña Undurraga has invested over $16 million (£9.1 million) in over 400 hectares of land in Chile, representing an increase in land of 46%. It has also significantly strengthened the winemaking team with three new winemakers working under chief winemaker Hernán Amenabar, who is also president of the National Association of Chilean Winemakers.

It has also invested $4.5 million (£2.6 million) in its main estate at Santa Ana de Talagante, where the cellars have been refurbished and the bottling plant overhauled in February.

Cristian Isbej, national sales director for Undurraga UK, says: "We're very excited to be launching in the Duty Free market in partnership with World of Patria. I believe that this venture between us is very promising for both companies.

"We have many common interests and we are looking forward to mutually benefit from this joint venture and in the areas still to be explored."

Separately, World of Patria has also announced that it will represent New Zealand based Delegats Wine Estate in the travel retail and duty free markets in the UK and Europe.

Specifically targeting the travel retail sector, World of Patria will showcase a number of Delegats brands.
