InBev “categorically denies” launch of stronger Stella

Thursday, 16 October 2008
InBev has issued a statement categorically denying that it is to release a higher ABV variant of Stella Artois.

The drinks giant has hit back at rumours in the press of the introduction of a high strength lager called Stella Black. According to some reports, InBev is set to release the 5.5% ABV Stella Black early next year.

In a statement, InBev said: "InBev UK is constantly looking at a number of product innovations. However, InBev UK categorically denies it is launching any variants of Stella Artois at a higher ABV than currently available."

Earlier this year InBev launched a lower strength, 4% ABV version of Stella Artois. A TV, press and outdoor campaign to promote the lighter variant is due to launch next month.
