C&C Group, producers of Magners cider, have appointed ex Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) chief John Dunsmore as CEO, following the resignation of Maurice Pratt last month.

Dunsmore was previously chief executive of S&N, a position he held until the joint acquisition of the business by Heineken and Carlsberg in April.

Dunsmore has been appointed alongside two other former members of the S&N senior management team who also left when the acquisition took place. Former S&N group operations director Stephen Glancey has been appointed as C&C Group's new chief operating officer and former head of finance for Western Europe, Kenny Neison ,joins as strategy director.

Pratt stood down on October 9 after admitting that he had failing to halt the brand's continued sales slump. The Dublin-based company reported a 13% sales slump in the six months to August 31.
