Solar energy scheme for Constellation

Constellation Brands has begun installing what it claims is the world's largest solar energy system in a winery, at Gonzales in California.
The system will produce 1.7 million kilowatts of electricity a year, about half of the winery's total energy requirements.
It comprises 6,358 solar panels on the roof of the main building at the winery, near Monterey, which produces wines including Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Black Box and Hayman & Hill.
It's estimated that the system will reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking 2,000 cars off the road.
Electricity will be supplied to nearby residents during the winery's off-peak periods of use.
Constellation president and chief executive Rob Sands said: "The solar energy project is one of several regional initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and ensuring the legacy we leave for future generations is a positive one in the communities where we have a significant presence."
