Constellation has opened what it claims is Europe's biggest wine warehouse and distribution centre.

The new facility at Avonmouth near Bristol cost 50 million euros and is designed to improve the wine giant's UK supply chain efficiency.

The development also includes two bottling and three bag-in-box lines which will allow Constellation to ship more Australian wines in bulk. The company says it aims to bottle 9 million cases a year, saving money and CO2 emissions.

The Constellation Park site, which is the size of 13 football pitches, provides Constellation with 90,000 additional pallet spaces and employs 300 people.

The company expects the facility to be fully operational by May 1.
