Argentina Wine Awards 2009 results

This year's Argentina Wine Awards have been announced following an international judging session in Mendoza.

James Forbes, Wines of Argentina's UK director, said he was pleased to see 17 of the top awards go to blends.

"I think the judges are spot on this year", he said. "Not only did they reward the obvious strengths of Argentina - Malbec and Torrontés - they picked up in a big way on the consummate skills of the winemakers as master blenders who, for my money, are on a par with the very best in Europe."

The UK judges were Tim Atkin MW, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Charles Metcalfe.

The 14 trophy winners were:
