The world's largest whisky collection will arrive at its new home in Scotland today after being bought by Diageo.

The collection will go on display to the public as part of the Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh, a visitor attraction that has undergone a £3 million refurbishment for 2009.

The Diageo Claive Vidiz collection was bought from a private collector in Brazil last year and has been in storage ever since.

It has been certified as the largest collection over by the Guinness Book of Records and comprises 3,384 bottles, amassed over a 35-year period by a Brazilian businessman.

Alastair McIntosh, deputy chairman of the Scotch Whisky Experience, said: "The collection will be the jewel in the crown of our new tour and we look forward to welcoming visitors from all over the world to see it in its new home."
