PLB has picked up another wine agency from Paragon Vintners, which recently announced its closure due to adverse market conditions.

New Zealand's Grove Mill - a carbon-zero winery in Marlborough - joins the PLB line-up from April 1. Former Paragon marketing manager Andrew Barraclough was recently appointed EU business manager of brand owner the New Zealand Wine Company, and will be working alongside PLB's retail and wholesale teams.

PLB recently acquired the UK agency for South Africa's Vergelegen from Paragon.

NZWC chief executive Rob White said: “Our development in the UK is of critical importance to our overall company strategy and we realised a few months ago that the time had come to change our distribution agreement.  We want to thank Paragon for their work and now feel that the resources at PLB are the best fit to help us achieve our long-term goals.”

PLB managing director Peter Darbyshire added: “With New Zealand showing very strong growth and maintaining its premium position in the market, this is clearly a great addition to our portfolio and we look forward to working with NZWC to develop their UK and Ireland business.”
