Cognac producers have financed and developed a new training toolkit to help trade professionals improve their understanding of the region and its products.

The CD-rom toolkit has been worked on for the past two years by the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC).

The toolkit can be used in English, French and German.

The content, which covers the history of Cognac, viticulture, vinification, distillation, ageing, tasting, legislation and marketing, is broken down into different modules and different levels.

The BNIC's director of marketing and communication, Jérôme Durand, said: "One of the most important roles of the BNIC is to inform. Training professionals and educating the consumer is essential in today when the message about drinking less but drinking better."
