Penfolds has released the 2009 instalment in its ongoing Luxury & Icon Australian fine wine range.

The release includes the 2004 vintage of the legendary Grange, carrying a UK rrp of £170 a bottle, with a favoured drinking time somewhere between 2016 and 2050.

The range also includes Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (£60), RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz 2006 (£50), Yattarna Chardonnay 2006 (£40), Magill Estate Shiraz 2006 (£40), St Henri Shiraz 2005 (£30), and Reserve Bin A Chardonnay 2007 (£28).

Chief winemaker Peter Jago said: "I really believe the 2009 release is one of the best yet for Penfolds, and boasts some exceptional wines.

"The wait for this Grange release has been much anticipated for good reason, and is arguably the finest since the stellar 1990, 1996 and 1998 vintages."
