The overall winner of the Condé Nast Johansens Champagne Taittinger Wine List Awards 2010, for the best individual establishment in UK and Ireland, was the George of Stamford in Lincolnshire.

The prize awarded to Chris Pitman of the George of Stamford, was a magnum of Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs as well as a weekend for two in Reims, which includes a tour and tasting at Champagne Taittinger's Cellars, two nights with dinner, bed and breakfast and return travel.

The judges said: "This list, with its individual and comprehensive layout and selections, appeals to the passionate amateur as it does to the serious wine drinker. It is a list you can trust. It has a good long list of wine by the glass, fun bin ends and impressive magnum sections."

Now in its 7th year, the presentations took place at the 28th Annual Awards Dinner held at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge.

The expert judging panel included among others Justin Llewelyn, Champagne ambassador for Champagne Taittinger and Sarah-Jane Evans, MW and Wine Editor of BBC Good Food and Olive Magazine.
