UK Sommelier Association (North Area) rolls out fast-track course
The UK Sommelier Association (North Area), is to roll out one of the only northern-based fully accredited sommelier courses from February 2013.
The 14-week fast-track diploma course is constructed around an international version of the AIS (Italian Sommelier Association) curriculum, recognised by the Worldwide Sommelier Association, which is known for its patented "technical tasting method".
It will will cover the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to become a sommelier and is designed to appeal not only to those working in the industry, but also to members of the public.
Michele Muccilli, chairman of the UK Sommelier Association (North Area), said: "The facts on wine consumption in the UK show just how much more popular wine is becoming with consumers. Experts are predicting that wine sales in the UK will climb to almost £ 9billion by 2014 and that 823 million bottles of white wine will be drunk per year by 2013.
She added: "Restaurant owners and managers who want to enhance the dining experience for their own customers are realising the value of sending their employees on this course and having that in-house expertise to offer to their customers."
The course runs from February 4 until June 3 at the Novotel Hotel in Leeds. To find out more about guest lecturers, pricing or to book the course, visit uksommeliernorth.com.
