Wine Australia to challenge global image at Savour
Wine Australia is to invite influential figures from the world of wine to what it claims will be the most comprehensive analysis of its wine industry at a three-day event in Adelaide this September.
Savour 2013 has been organised to showcase the very best in the Australian wine industry while also challenging some of the common perceptions about its wines. Wine Australia claimed it will be the “most comprehensive exploration of Australian wine ever undertaken”.
The event, which runs from September 15-18, will also present the business case for Australian wine and demonstrate the work it is doing across global markets through its Landmark series of tastings and events.
It will tackle issues such as pricing of Australian wine around the world, consumer perceptions, its current global position and how it can grow in the future to be more profitable.
John McDonnell, head of Wine Australia in Ireland, told Harpers at ProWein it was an “excellent opportunity” for Australia to show the world what it can do and how it has “listened to the market” and adapted its wines accordingly.
Adelaide has been chosen as the host city for its proximity to many of the country’s wine regions. The event will also link up with Australia’s tourism industry and highlight the country’s food, chefs, nature and culture.
