PLB Beer picks up new accounts

PLB's Beer Division has won new listings in Sainsbury's and Booker C&C for Summer Lightning - the Premium Bottled Ale from Hop Back Brewery, which is represented by PLB in the Off-Trade.

The ale, which is also available through Morrisons, Majestic, Co-op, Booths, Tesco and Waitrose, retails at around £1.69 for a 500ml bottle.

"Summer Lightning is already something of a brand champion and these new listings cement its position as a must-stock in the multiple grocer sector," comments PLB's beer division director Mark Johnson.

"It is probably the most gold medal awarded beer in Britain and certainly the most popular Premium Bottled Ale in our portfolio."

The new accounts are another feather in the cap for PLB, whose Beer division was set up in the latter part of 2007 to increase the company's presence in the branded product arena.

Historically a key own-label and bespoke brand supplier, the company is now focusing on marketing branded premium packaged beers and ciders from Brazil, Spain, the Czech Republic and Lithuania.
