Stefano Girelli’s “The Wine People” has launched two new southern Italian wines in its Miopasso range (rrp £8.99).

Following the launch earlier in the year of the Miopasso Nero d’Avola, made using the Ripasso method, the range has now been extended to include three styles.  All three wines are from the south of Italy. The Miopasso Fiano 2010, Sicily has a citrus and honeysuckle nose, an initial palate of lemon citrus leading to a good minerality and plenty of complex multi-fruited layers for a wine of this price. The Miopasso Primitvo di Puglia 2009 has a morello cherry, toffee and ripe berry fruit nose, followed by a damson and cherry palate, good mouthfeel, firm acidity and decent finish.
