UK: Retailer at forefront of innovation with its new ready-made mulled cider
![]() Tesco Mulled Cider is now available exclusively in-store priced at 2.99 for a 75cl bottle.
Produced in conjunction with leading Suffolk cider producer, Aspall is the perfect drink for the winter months. Mulled wine has always been considered the traditional festive winter warmer, but mulled cider offers a modern alternative. With a lower ABV than mulled wine, mulled cider is packed with spicy fruit flavours, and it has already found favour with such aficionados as Nigella Lawson. Aspall have been making cider since 1728, and they have used all their experience to produce a mulled cider to rival any home made brew. Flavoured with cinnamon, cloves, ginger, orange and lemon, the 4.7% ABV medium-dry cider offers a warm, spicy drink full of sweet fruit flavours. Tesco's mulled cider maintains the retailers' ambition to offer its customers products at the forefront of innovation. Earlier this year, Tesco launched its own label over-ice cider, Oakleys, designed to rival the major brands for both taste and value. In addition, the mulled cider joins Tesco's own label low alcohol cider in the range. Ian Targett, Tesco buying manager for cider, said: "We have worked hard this year to offer our customers' new and interesting products, and in conjunction with Aspall we have created a top quality mulled cider in a convenient format. "We believe we are the first retailer to bring mulled cider to the market, and it maintains our ambition to drive innovation within the cider industry".
