Hennessy is re-introducing its Hennessy Horse's Neck cocktail recipe in celebration of the Hennessy Gold Cup taking place next month.
The Hennessy Horse's Neck includes Hennessy Fine de Cognac along with ginger ale and orange peel.
First run in 1957, the Hennessy Gold Cup is one of the highlights of the racing calendar and is a first class social event of the ‘Winter Season'.
Also known as Britain's oldest established sponsored race, the Hennessy Gold Cup is famous for being one of the Queen Mother's favourite races, at which she often presented the coveted trophy. In recent years, Lady Gabriella Windsor has picked up the reins.
The biggest stars in racing take each other on the track whilst the crowds are joined by a host of celebrity racegoers. In 2007, Hennessy entertained Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster together with singer James Blunt, Jasmine Guinness, Lady Gabriella Windsor and friends. Actor and Newbury regular, James Nesbitt was also spotted toasting the winner with a Hennessy Horse's Neck cocktail.
To make the cocktail, place an orange peel spiral in a glass and drape one end over the rim of the glass (the horse's neck). Fill the glass with ice cubes. Pour in 50ml of Hennessy Fine de Cognac and 70ml of ginger ale into the glass. Stir well and savour.
This year the Winter Festival takes place from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th of November. For the first time ever the three day Festival will culminate on the Saturday, the Hennessy Gold Cup Day, providing a fitting climax to three days of top class racing, entertainment and pre-Christmas indulgence.
