The idea is to develop a range of "delicious", full-flavoured wines at an affordable price in a market that in 2012 De Bortoli concedes is a "challenging year for the wine industry". However, it adds that the quality of its wine is one thing that hasn't changed.
Exclusive to independent merchants and regional wholesalers, it has issued a limited parcel that is available while stocks last. The wine has inky hues in the glass and a full, ripe red-fruited palate, with earthy, spicy notes and firm tannins that balance the fruit content and keep it nicely in line.
Also aimed at UK independents is the Accomplice Sweet Escape Red NV (rrp £6.99), a Syrah/Dolcetto blend from the Riverina region. De Bortoli brought this wine over to meet the general public's demand for an easy-drinking fruity, sweeter red.

Winning a host of awards across Australia last year is the De Bortoli Wines' Deen Vat 1 Durif 2010 (rrp £9.29) from its Deen Vat Series range.
