Campo Viejo, the UK's leading Rioja, is launching Campo Viejo Viura and Rose` in screw caps.

The introduction of screw caps for its young wines is a bold move in a category where cork remains the norm.

Adrian Atkinson, wine development director at Pernod Ricard, said: "Stelvin closures preserve fruit flavours and freshness, delivering the wine exactly as the winemaker intended. This is the latest initiative from Campo Viejo to take Rioja forward and continue to add value to the category as a whole."

According to research commissioned by Pernod Ricard, consumers increasingly associate screw cap wines with quality, which in turn leads to a greater propnsity to purchase.
