Argentina?s Trapiche has just released the 2005 vintage of its premium Iscay wine in sleek silver packaging to celebrate the new partnership behind its production.

The 2005 Iscay - which means two' in the Inca's Quechua language - has been brought firmly in-house, with the signature of Trapiche's Head Agronomist Marcelo Belmonte now joining that of Head Winemaker Daniel Pi on the label. The wine was previously a collaboration between Pi and International Winemaking Consultant Michel Rolland.

Export Manager Gustavo Arroyat comments, "Daniel and Marcelo have been working together for over four years now. Their joint focus has always been to gain a thorough understanding of Argentina's diverse terroirs and the effect these terroirs have on the grapes grown. Iscay's new silver packaging celebrates the fact that our icon' wine is now a fruit of their labour and combined expertise."

First released with the 1997 vintage, Iscay is a blend of 50% Malbec grapes from Trapiche's vineyards in Altamira in the Uco Valley and 50% Merlot from their Finca las Palmas single vineyard in Cruz de Piedra, Maip. The 2005 vintage is now available to the UK's Independent and Restaurant sectors (RRP 21) via agent HBJ Wines & Spirits - tel. 020 7922 1610.

Trapiche owns 1,075 hectares of vineyards spread over seven key vineyard sites in the Province of Mendoza, and also has access to fruit from up to 200 individual growers in the region. This has enabled the producer to have the largest single varietal offering in the country and to become Argentina's number one exported wine brand.
