McGuigan launches UK specific range

Leading Australian wine producer McGuigan has unveiled the latest addition to its UK portfolio - McGuigan Grey Label.

Developed specifically for the UK market, the varietally led Grey Label range is priced from £6.99 and will be available through Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op and Majestic from October.

Sourced from specially selected vineyard sites throughout South-Eastern Australia, the new Grey Label range features iconic Australian varieties of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Shiraz. In a move to over-deliver on quality and to add greater complexity, each wine includes 25 per cent premium ‘dry-grown' fruit.

As well as a Merlot and a Shiraz, the Grey Label range features a 2007 Chardonnay, aged in lightly toasted oak for a period of three months, and a cool climate 2008 Sauvignon Blanc - night-harvested to ensure optimum freshness and natural levels of acidity.

Commenting on the launch, Australian Vintage European General Manager Paul Schaafsma said: "The UK is the number one export market for Australian wine and we've built our success through staying in tune with the demands of the UK buyer and consumer. Evolution is the key - we've created the Grey Label range specifically for the UK market, and the wines have been developed in response to demands from UK consumers for floral whites, and elegant, plumy reds."
