New contemporary Albariño launches in the UK

Grupo Codorníu is releasing a new contemporary Albariño in the UK. Leiras - a 100% Albariño wine with innovative packaging - marks a new era of development for the growing UK Albariño market.

Grupo Codorníu winemaker, Jordi Ratera has created this new contemporary style D.O. Rías Baixas Albariño by blending four distinctive types of wine to create an Albariño which demonstrates the aromatic character and nuances of the variety whilst delivering more structure and texture than traditional wines.

The striking packaging and design, with its distinctive frosted Bordeaux bottle and screwcap closure, will ensure great stand-out on shelf or behind bar. In addition, the state-of-the-art colour coded thermal device on the back of the bottle changes colour when the wine reaches the ideal temperature for consumption.

Between 2006 & 2007 sales grew at around 62% by value and 54% by volume*.
