Laughing Matters

croak-rotie-syrah-viognier-150v2First we had Goats do Roam, then Bored Doe.  Now Croak Rotie is the latest wittily named wine brand to poke fun at traditional French wine regions.  Part of the Arrogant Frog range from Languedoc producer Jean-Claude Mas, at Les Domaines Paul Mas, the release is a Vin de Pays d’Oc in a similar blend to the northern Rhône with 85% Syrah and 15% Viognier. Croak Rotie is said to be “New World” in style (ie. fruity and not too complicated). The question is: will consumers get the joke?
The basics: RRP £7.99, from Stratford’s.

What about the Goats do Roam flagship, Goat-Roti? That's been around a good few years. We had it at the farm and it was really great. A roti is a local type of food in Cape Town.

Many years ago, a very prim lady ran a wine shop in central London.
One day there was a special offer in the shop window she described as Chateauneuf du Rape.
I was told her Cotes du Phone tasted good too.
