Pernod Ricard readies George Wyndham launch

Read more about

Super-premium Shiraz brand Wyndham Estate will unveil an exciting new direction at this year's LIWF, including the launch of the George Wyndham range and the refocus of the Wyndham Estate Bin range, which will feature new premium varietals.

Wyndham Estate has already proved its super-premium credentials with multiple medal wins during the course of 2007, including the prestigious 2007 Grand Vinitaly – making the winery the first producer from the southern hemisphere to have won the coveted trophy.

Wyndham Estate's winning form has taken its total 2007 medal tally to 259 including six trophies, 38 gold and 82 silver medals – a new record for the Hunter Valley-based wine producer. The winery has continued to prove itself as a medal magnet throughout 2008 and the UK launch of the George Wyndham range looks set to further reinforce the winery's premium winemaking credentials.

The new George Wyndham range, which won eight gold medals in October and November 2007 alone, will be targeted at multiple specialists, independent specialists and prestige on-trade. The range showcases intense wines that are easy-to-drink, yet full bodied with rich and generous flavours. The collection includes Shiraz 2005, Shiraz Cabernet 2005 and Shiraz Grenache 2005. At the pinnacle of the range is the single-vineyard Hunter-Valley Shiraz, Black Cluster, which is available in limited volumes only and represents exceptional quality and complexity of flavour.

New packaging for the Bin range, which will continue to target multiple grocers, convenience stores, multiple specialists and mainstream on-trade, will also be unveiled at the fair as well as two new premium varietals; Shiraz Viognier and Shiraz Rosé. A significant facelift for the Sparkling Shiraz will also be revealed.

Head of Marketing for Wines, Annabelle Kuhn, commented: “These latest awards for our Australian portfolio, and particularly the fact that we have outshone the European competition, underline the premium quality of our wines. We are excited to announce our new direction for Wyndham Estate at this year's LIWF which demonstrates our commitment to adding value to the market and delivering wines that are second to none. The unstoppable growth of our Jacob's Creek range, and most notably the Jacob's Creek Reserves which are currently growing at +240% , shows our ability to drive category-leading brands and we look forward to mirroring this success with Wyndham Estate.”
