Bowmore Distillery, home to Islay's oldest single malt whisky has proudly launched its latest limited edition expression, Bowmore 16 Year Old Wine Cask Matured.

Bowmore Distillery, home to Islay's oldest single malt whisky has proudly launched its latest limited edition expression, Bowmore 16 Year Old Wine Cask Matured.

A premium vintage single malt, Bowmore 16 Year Old Wine Cask Matured has spent the majority of its life ageing to perfection in Bordeaux wine casks, breathing in the subtle tannins and rich fruit flavours from the oak wood.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.5%, this limited edition is a sumptuous expression, deep red copper in colour with aromas of ripe red berries, sugared almonds and butterscotch expertly balanced with a damp earthy smokiness.

It is exclusively available from specialist retailers based in the UK, at RRSP £59.99.

Commenting on this new release, Glen Moore, Bowmore brand director, said: "There has been a great deal of anticipation among whisky collectors and enthusiasts ahead of the launch of this expression. Bowmore 16 Year Old Wine Cask Matured is the fine result of a hand-crafted process which began back in 1992. Since then the spirit has had time to slowly mature in our cellars near the shores of Loch Indaal on Islay.

"This is an outstanding limited edition Bowmore, one that has taken much time, skill and dedication to prepare and one we very much hope will be enjoyed and savoured by our consumers."
