Katie Jones, the English winemaker based in the Languedoc in France, who saw last year's vintage destroyed by vandals, has successfully released her new 2013 wine which is now available in the UK.

Following the attack on her winery last summer, Jones received great support from the UK wine trade with money raised by Naked Wines amongst others helping her to source alternative wine.

This year has been a lot more plain sailing and she has now released her 2013 Domaine Jones Blanc Grenache Gris Côtes Catalanes into the UK.  The wine is a pure Grenache Gris from the Côtes Catalanes, produced from 80 year old vines on the black schist soils of Jones vineyard in the Maury Valley.

She said: "Having lost last year's vintage, the 2013 Jones Blanc is even more of an achievement for us and we are really pleased with the wine. It's the best to date; the style is really where we wanted it to be."

The grapes are hand harvested with 30% of the blend matured in French Oak for six months in two and three year old barrels.

As for her future plans Jones said: "We have just bought a train shed that was part of the former Tuchan railway terminus building. It's a big old stone building dating back to 1905 and it is the perfect shape and structure for a winery. And it comes with land! So next year the vintage will move down into the station from our current winery."

She added:: "We've also purchased small plots of old vines in Tuchan and Paziol with Carignon and Grenache Noir as well as the lesser-known Carignan Gris and Macabeu.  It's very in keeping with our philosophy of small and quirky and we aim to keep doing everything by hand and with the same attention to detail."

Domaine Jones Blanc 2013 is available to UK independents and high end on-trade through The Wine Society, Inverarity Morton/ Forth Wines, Nethergate Wines or at Domaine Jones, www.domainejones.com.
