Restructure announced as O.W. Loeb relocated to MARC HQ

Published:  16 January, 2018

Following speculation on the status of O.W. Loeb, owner Marlon Abela’s restaurant group has issued a statement regarding changes at the wine merchant, including a relocation to the head offices of the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation (MARC) in Mayfair.

The release said that following an agreed period of transition, previous directors Christopher Davey and Brough Gurney-Randall had stepped down from the board in 2017, with a "corporate restructure" currently bringing closer alignment between O.W. Loeb and the MARC group.

Meanwhile, former O.W. Loeb business development manager Valeria Rodriguez has been promoted to sales director and Ben Furst, previously head of business development at Rothschild, has been appointed to look after private clients.

Abela, who bought a controlling interest in O.W Loeb in 2014 and also owns the high-end MARC restaurant group, which includes The Greenhouse, The Square and Umu, is said to be “looking forward to implementing new strategies including increasing synergies between O.W. Loeb and the MARC Group”, according to the release.

The release also stated that O.W. Loeb will continue to focus on selling and supplying its portfolio through the MARC Group, high-end UK restaurants and to private clients, including its areas of tradtional strength, Burgundy and Germany.
