Agile Media: Events Manager - Maternity Cover

Agile Media is a fast growing Independent Publisher with a host of complementary magazine and event brands across the drinks industry. We are seeking a maternity cover events manager to help run our expanding events portfolio.

This is a really exciting role to work in a very sociable, vibrant industry that is fast growing, dynamic and extremely interesting.

You will be working on a diverse range of events from awards, competitions, masterclasses and tastings

This is a very busy department so the ideal candidate will need to be both hands on as well as provide the experience and management support to the rest of the team

Purpose of Role: To provide team and event management for the Agile Media events portfolio

Key responsibilities & tasks:

  • Managing the Events team to ensure that events are delivered on time and on budget
  • Providing leadership, motivation, direction and support to the events team
  • Budget management
  • Producing and managing the production of event materials
  • Venue negotiation and management
  • Responsibility for achieving competition entry targets for award events and visitors for tasting events
  • Development, production and delivery of events from proposal right up to delivery.
  • Setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and priorities for each event
  • Managing supplier relationships
  • Managing operational and administrative functions to ensure events are delivered efficiently
  • Travelling to onsite inspections and being onsite managing events


Key skills required for role:

  • At least five years’ experience delivering corporate events
  • Experience of managing a small team whilst being responsible for delivering a portfolio of events
  • Excellent organization, planning and time management skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good negotiation and marketing skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • A creative approach to problem-solving
  • Crisis management onsite at events
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Experience of devising and managing budgets
  • Working with Microsoft office applications (outlook, word, excel)
  • Ideally an understanding of print production of event materials
  • Knowledge of the drinks industry would be an advantage but not essential.
