Du Toitskloof to Mellish
The Du Toitskloof winery of Rawsonville has appointed Nick Mellish (who used to be agent for Moselland) as its UK agent.
Du Toitskloof is looking to make significant inroads into the UK, concentrating on multiple operators, in the 4.99-5.99 range.
The Du Toitskloof winery is a co-operative of 20 growers who have 675 hectares in total, producing in the region of 12,000 tons of grapes, across all the usual grape varieties.

Champagne scholarship

Brigitte Hennessy is the winner of the second Trinity Scholarship. This scholarship, selected by essay from among Master of Wine students, enables the winner to gain an insight into the Champagne industry from the perspective of three family-owned Champagne houses: Bollinger, Pol Roger and Louis Roederer.

Brigitte lives and works in Cheshire, where she is one of the founders and owners of Zephyr-One, a wine distribution company with a retail arm.

Dalrymple consults

Hew Dalrymple, a well-known figure in the trade, has gone back to his roots and set up an independent consultancy offering strategic & performance solutions' to the drinks industry. He was previously a management consultant with KPMG, before spending nine years as finance and then marketing director at Waverley.

The industry is evolving rapidly and this will continue to put pressure on companies,' he said. I see a great opportunity to assist brand owners and distributors to review their performance and develop winning strategies. In particular, I am convinced that further industry consolidation is inevitable, so my focus will be on helping companies keep ahead of the game.'
